This gives you a numerical advantage more quickly. It is better to position yourself to have multiple shots on one weaker target versus good shots on many targets. Target elimination means eliminating as many enemies as you can as quickly as you can, which usually starts with the weakest enemy units. True to most of the games along this style of play target elimination is usually the best option when fighting. In this game combat is unavoidable so knowing the best way to handle it is essential. But don’t expect long, drawn out battles like XCOM has. It has the base building, expansion, and economy that XCOM lacks but still has the intense turn based tactical battles that are very similar to XCOM. I much more prefer AoW 1 and 2 to this.Age of Wonders Planetfall is a hybrid between Civilization 6 and XCOM. I knew from the day they announced it that this is going to be a fail successor and it is. Overall I give that game 3/10, for trying hard, but not hard enough. The only things I liked about it is: storytelling and art. for an old player coming from AoW 1 and 2 coming to 3, GUI and everything is just messed up. Few of those are: diablo 3, man of war, starcraft. Currently there are very few games that pulled 3D nice into "strategy perspective".
Actually AoW 1 and 2 looks much much better than those ugly 3D models. Moving units is a bit confusing sometimes specially when you put order for next turn.
selecting units/structures is kinds stupidly made. Anyone don't buy the game straight away, try demo or get some free version of it somewhere, just don't buy it, first try it and check if you like it or not.
